Frequently Asked Questions...
Q: What exactly is Ladies Circle?
A: We are a modern, vibrant club for women aged 18 to 45 with a passion for life... just like you! We offer a structured organisation within which you can make new friends, have fun socialising, and at the same time put something back into the community through taking part in fundraising activities. With hundreds of members and around 130 circle-groups based all around the UK, local clubs usually meet up once a fortnight. Check our Circle Finder to see where your local club is based.
Q: What can Ladies Circle offer me?
A: For some women, it’s the regular night out that allows them to take a night off and be themselves. For others, it’s about getting involved in community or charity events, and working as a team to accomplish something extraordinary. Finding time to be yourself can be a constant challenge – demanding jobs, full family lives, and caring duties for loved ones (as well as a whole host of other responsibilities) are realities that many of us deal with every day. Ladies Circle offers you time out to recharge your batteries, relax and to enjoy yourself!
Q: How much does it cost to join?
A: Ladies Circle is part of an international network joined up with 38 other countries across the world. Local, national and international opportunities for you are immense and our members opt to take part in as much or as little according to what suits their lifestyle. As with any formal, structured organisation, we do charge an annual membership fee. Our Circling year runs from 1st May to 30th April and for 2016/17 our membership fee is £52.50 (nb: fee reduced pro rata if joining at different times during the year). Many local groups also charge a nominal annual fee to help with their own running costs (for example, £7) – plus there will likely be a charge dependent on the type of individual events organised. Your local club will be able to advise you on this.
Q: What sort of fundraising events do you get involved in?
A: Each local club will usually opt to support charitable groups within their own community, as a national organsation we help fundraise for our Ladies Circle President’s nominated charity and support BBC Children in Need, and we also help to raise funds for the designated International Service Project which is selected every two years. Ladies Circle has a proud history of community and charity involvement, and this critical support continues today. Many of our members join Ladies Circle wanting to put something back into their community, but lacking the time or knowledge as to how to get involved. Joining a local Circle means you become involved in something much bigger, and no matter how small the contribution you can make personally, together we are able to make a real difference.
Q: Do you have a committee?
A: Being a structured organisation, we have a National Executive Team who oversee the running of the association. We are governed by our own constitution, have our own aims and objectives, and hold an AGM. The UK is divided up into Areas and these each have their own committees to help support local groups. Local groups also have a Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary to ensure the business side of activities all run smoothly, and then most groups’ members will also get together to organise all the social, community and charity events which they want to get involved in. Getting involved can lead to all sorts of opportunities, whether you help to organise events, take a committee post, or just share experiences with fellow Circlers... every club has something to offer you.
