Bramhall Circle cycle 40km!
Bramhall may be a new circle, but we are determined to raise as much money for our charities as possible. On Sunday 2nd October, 2 members of Bramhall Circle got on our bikes and cycled 40km (a whole marathon!) to raise vital funds for cancer treatment hospital, The Christie. Despite not owning bikes when we signed up for the event, our (minimal) training and team spirit got us through!
Having been slightly worried after the glorious weather received the day before, on the day the weather was very kind to us and was just cool enough to keep us going. We cycled through the lovely Cheshire countryside and were amazed by how kind the cycling community was. As any event, of course, the day didn’t go without hitch and we had to battle against chains falling off – but this didn’t halt our determination! I don’t know who thought up the course, but the final 5km HILL wasn’t the easiest way to finish after 2 and a half hours of cycling!
About a month after the event, we were invited by Christies to a thank you presentation where we listened to many peoples’ reasons for taking part in cycling events. It was a very humbling evening and the distances people had travelled in aid of this charity were very inspiring.
We completed the course in 2 hours 45 minutes and between us raised £275. Not bad for a group of girls who didn’t own bikes!
