A Proud Moment!
Handing a cheque over for £900 was a proud moment for our chairwoman of 2012 - 13, Emma Conneely. Emma personally chose the charity in which she wanted to support and we all felt very pleased to be passing the cheque to the founder of the charity, Jane Plumb! Jane joined us for a celebration at Connie's Tearooms in Timsbury where we enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal.
Group B Strep Support (GBSS) was formed in 1996. Group B Strep is the UK's most common cause of life threatening infection in newborn babies, causing septacaemia, pneumonia and meningitis. GBSS wants to see the nationwide implementation of preventative medicine so that avoidable neonatal deaths due to GBS are minimised. Until this happens they strive to offer support and give information to those affected or concerned about GBS. We were very pleased to hear from Jane that the money we raised is going towards printing 15,000 leaflets to give to pregnant women. A proud moment for us all!

The night was also cause for more celebration when Sadie Robinson, outgoing honorary president, handed over the chain to Alex Chard who has become this years honorary president. Having a honorary president is very important as they are there to offer support and friendship as well as help with the organisation of events!
This year we will be raising money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. We have had a great start and hope to at least match this years £900.
