Getting in the Winter Olympics Spirit
Winter Olympic Fun with Mario and Sonic!!
Chippenham Ladies Circle celebrated the start of the winter Olympics with a special Russian and Winter Sports evening, hosted by Tina. With each member being allocated a country to represent, and having to come dressed in the colours of their country's flag it was set to be a fun evening.
After filling up on Russian snacks such as Blinis, dill pickled cucumbers and apple salad, Kate representing Finland, Tina representing Russia and Lorna representing Sweden, took to the floor and started on some down hill skiing, using the wii game Mario versus Sonic at the Winter Olympics. After getting the hang of the controls, Finland took an early lead, but this was to be short lived as Russia improved and one the gold.
Followed up with some graceful ice skating and ski jump, the competition really got tense, with the nations favourite new sport: curling! The tactics game out, and Sweden's skill in judging the weight of the stone and 'sweeping skills' took them into the lead.
The overall medal standings at the end of a fun evening were; Bronze Medal: Russia, Silver Medal: Finland and Gold Medal (and bragging rights): Sweden.
A fun night had by all with some friendly competition. Now then, when are the next Olympics??
