Lichfield ladies raise pounds for Birmingham Children's Hospital
Over the last 12 months, Lichfield ladies circle have been undertaking their Presidents Pound Project to raise funds for Birmingham Childrens Hospital. Each of the 33 ladies were given £1 and asked to return it with investment at their AGM on 2nd April 2014 though any imaginative fundraising ideas. A grand total of £1118.74 was raised for the project through ideas such as cake sales, car boots, guess the number of sweets in the jar and the sales of a red balloon cocktail at Parnells in Birmingham. Jodie Raphael, who works at Hellmanns Logistics raised the largest amount (£200) through sponsoring her boss £1 to dress down for the day and her colleagues to pay £1 to support him. Sue Jay, Lichfield ladies circle President and Chairman of the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charities was overwhelmed by the efforts the ladies went to and said ‘ the ladies are all truly amazing and I am still in shock at how much you raised. I cannot begin to thank you enough and the difference this amount of money can make for such a worthy cause’.
