Torquay Ladies Circle Trek 26 Miles for Alzheimer’s Society
Eight Torquay Ladies Circlers rose to Chairman Marianne Price’s challenge to Trek 26 Miles from Stonehenge to Avebury on the 6thSeptember 2014. The Trek was to raised money for their chosen charity this year the Alzheimer’s Society.
Joined by approximately 650 other walkers they began their Trek at the famous Stone Circle of Stonehenge taking in the beautiful scenery of Wiltshire including Salisbury Plain, the White Horse Trail, the Kennet and Avon Canal, Alton Barnes White Horse and finishing at Avebury.
The Trek took the Ladies over 10 hours to complete and they raised over £1,700.00. A massive achievement for all the Ladies who all showed pure determination to finish the Trek.
This saw a fantastic start to the year of fund raising for Marianne’s charity, with many more events still to come. Marianne said “I was delighted that so many ladies joined me on the trek! We had some wonderful walks locally in the build up to the event and I give them all my heartfelt thanks for their support!”
Torquay Ladies Circle were also supported by Hyundai Torbay who provided the Team with transport to and from the event. Fellow Circler Nikki Chalk took on the role of Team Driver and support on the day.
