Dereham Ladies Circle Carry Buckets to Raise 190 pounds to support CLIC SARGENT
The kind hearted ladies of the Dereham and District Ladies circle took part in this year’s Big Bucket Collection to raise vital funds for children and young people with cancer.
The ladies of the active community group were encourage by their Chair, Mrs Allison Burrell to don their pink sweatshirts and shake buckets on Friday 26th September at Morrison’s in Dereham to support CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people.
Every month, thousands of families deal with the devastating impact of a cancer diagnosis and its treatment. Cancer treatment for children is often gruelling and can start immediately, last as long as three years and take place many miles from home.
The Big Bucket Collection is a national event to raise funds for and awareness of the impact of childhood cancer, and of CLIC Sargent’s work supporting young cancer patients and their families. Last year, CLIC Sargent supported 69 families in Norfolk alone.
Mrs Burrell, Chair of the Dereham Ladies Circle, said: “We were really pleased to be able to raise £190.41 for such a worthwhile cause. During my time as Chair of the Ladies Circle, I intend to support children’s charities and CLIC Sargent really spoke to me.
“The Big Bucket Collection was a fantastic opportunity to show we stand by children with cancer, and their families.”Daisy Turner, CLIC Sargent fundraising manager for Norfolk and Suffolk said: “We’re so grateful to Allison and the other members of the Ladies Circle for choosing to support CLIC Sargent and all the families coping with cancer in Norfolk.”
“CLIC Sargent is here to provide vital practical, emotional and financial support from diagnosis onwards but right now we can only help 2 out of 3 who need our help which is why the Ladies Circle’s support is so important.”
