Lichfield Ladies support local breastfeeding group.
Lichfield ladies circle were delighted to present a cheque donation to the Four Oaks Milk Bar (a breastfeeding support group, run by trained peer supporters from Birmingham Buddies and BfN). The group is based at The Hub, Mere Green Community Centre in Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield and runs from 10-11:30 every Thursday morning. The group is supported and supervised by the Four Oaks Children's Centre who also provide the room. The group is run in order to offer support with all things breastfeeding related, whether it is exclusive breastfeeding, expressing and feeding or combination feeding with both breastmilk and formula. It is a great opportunity for mums to meet and talk with other mums, have a hot drink and socialise.
Ashley Atterbury, Volunteer Peer Supporter stated “We are extremely grateful for the kind donation from Lichfield Ladies Circle. We have been working alongside Four Oaks Children's Centre with the aim of setting up a breast pump loan system to benefit breastfeeding women within Sutton Coldfield and the surrounding areas. This donation will allow us to purchase the first breast pump and will go a long way towards supporting local women in need, to establish and continue breastfeeding for as long as they want to”
Lichfield Ladies Chair Sue Kershaw added “As a group of ladies aged between 18 and 45, we watch some of our close friends enter parenthood and it is local groups such as the four oaks milk bar that serve our community and help new mums gain confidence and make new friends.”
Four Oaks Children's Centre Manager said "The commitment shown by existing and new volunteers has been amazing and we are really grateful for this support from Lichfield Ladies Circle."
