Volunteering at CarFest North for BBC Children in Need
31 July – 2nd August 2015
Wow… what a weekend! When I volunteered on behalf of Ladies Circle at Carfest North to help sell raffle tickets in support of BBC Children in Need I wasn’t 100 per cent sure what I was letting myself in for.
CarFest is a dream of cars, music, food and masses of family fun – a dream conjured up by Chris Evans and brought to life in Cheshire (CarFest North) and Hampshire (CarFest South): http://www.carfest.org/
The venue was over 4 hours’ drive from Norfolk and with everything but the kitchen sink packed in my car (first-time camping as an adult!) I was determined to make the most of this fabulous opportunity and take my fundraising up to a new level!!
The Ladies Circle contingent were a committed 12 hailing from around the UK, including York, Rothwell, Blackpool and of course Dereham Circles. It was fantastic to get together… some of us had only “met” through Facebook previously or on the dance floor at a national charity dinner, but that’s the beauty of Circle… like-minded Ladies equals lifelong Friends – no matter whether you see each other on a regular basis or not.
And yes… the music was fab, the cars were amazing, but most of all the fundraising was fantastic! The BBC Children in Need team were brilliantly organised, the team spirit between all volunteers was incredible, and together we proudly raised over £38,000 selling raffle tickets across the three days!!
To raise that amount of money in such a short space of time was a real buzz… and talking to families and individuals attending the show was so rewarding – everyone was just so friendly, out to have fun, and to really enjoy their time at CarFest whilst supporting a great cause.
Thank you Ladies Circle and BBC Children in Need for this brilliant opportunity
